Mattoon Pride Teams
Mattoon Pride Girls Fastpitch is located in Mattoon, Illinois. The Pride plays home games and hosts many tournaments at the Roundhouse Complex in Mattoon.
Our purpose and mission is to give the girls instructional guidance and experience in playing fastpitch softball at the highest level of competition possible. In order to do this, The Pride sends its teams to tournaments in, and out of, the state of Illinois.
This is where the competition is, and this is where we must go to develop athletes who want to play in high school or prepare for college.
The emphasis is always on sportsmanship, character, skill development, and fun, over winning..
We are a private, IRS-certified, non-profit organization. We gladly accept tax-deductible donations.
Mattoon has a rich history in girl’s fastpitch softball and is repeatedly commended for sportsmanship and conduct on and off the field and being able to compete with the best. This is not achieved easily and the coaches and players are commended for this. The coaches and athletes are very proud of their reputation and high standards.
During the 2006 season we had over 90 athletes (ages 8-18) playing on our seven summer teams. We look forward to another successful year in 2007.
Mattoon Pride Girls’ Fastpitch is registered with ASA, NSA, and USSSA.
The new Mattoon Pride winter practice facility –The DEN—was completed the fall of 2005. This new facility is approximately 7400 square feet and features three batting cages, a large open practice area, men’s and women’s rest rooms.
During the off-season, the athletes use the DEN for weekly practice, pitching/catching and hitting sessions.
Former Pride players that are now or have played at the college level attend these sessions to provide excellent instruction in all areas of softball.
Special clinics are also offered to players. Many of the clinicians are prominent coaches and other distinguished members of the softball community.
The Mattoon Pride hosted two college tournaments and four youth tournaments in 2006. These tournaments along with very reasonable player fees and sponsorships provide funding for the organization.
