Pride 10s win NSA Qualifier

MATTOON --  The Mattoon Pride 10 and Under defeated the Collinsville Extreme in a hard fought 8-7 championship contest of the Mattoon Pride NSA Qualifier on Sunday.
The 10s rallied in the sixth inning scoring two runs to win the time-expired game.
In the semi-final earlier in the day, the Pride had a 11-0 victory over the ECI Dynamite.
The Pride were a perfect 4-0 in pool play with wins over ECI Dynamite, 12-2; Tuscola Force 3-2; Collinsville Extreme 3-2 and the Charleston Chill 17-5.
The Mattoon Pride 10U is now 24-2 and are scheduled to play in the USSSA Central State Tournament at the Roundhouse Complex this weekend.

Pride 10s win title

MATTOON  --  The Mattoon Pride 10 & Under won the Pride Memorial Weekend Classic this past weekend. The Pride defeated the Black Widows 20-1 for the Championship.
Mattoon prevailed 6-0 over the Black Widows earlier in the day in a semi-final contest.
In the first elimination game on Saturday afternoon, the Pride won 10-0 against the Illiana Sparks. The BNGSA Angels fell 10-1 to the Pride and in the first game of the weekend, the Pride defeated the CIGS Rebels 10-0.
The Mattoon Pride outscored their opponents 56-2. The 10s return to action June 5-7 at the Eighth Annual Mattoon Pride NSA Qualifier.

Pride 10s repeat title
MATTOON – The Mattoon Pride 10U defended their title at the Cobra’s Mother’s Day Tournament this weekend.
The Pride won in the bottom of the seventh inning when Ivy Nichols walked, Avery Jackson singled and Kyliegh Basham walked to load the bases. With two outs, Emily Watson walked, forcing in Ivy Nichols for the winning run and the 4-3 victory over the Tuscola Force.
Cassi Dow pitched the first five, only allowing four hits, walking one and striking out nine. Kyliegh Basham came in to relieve in the sixth, striking out five, walking two, and giving up two hits with three runs. She struck out the side in the seventh.
In the fourth, Dow reached on a single with two outs. Whitley McDaniel pinch ran for Dow and then Watson hit a single. Sydney Jackson smacked a double, driving in two runs to tie the score at three.
The Pride won 7-6 over Paris’ Roxie Rocks in the semi-final game. In the bottom of the fourth, Tuscola was up 6-5, Dow singled, Watson singled and Sydney Jackson drove in the run to tie with a triple. Abrienne Lee sacrificed bunt to score Jackson to win 6-5.
Bella Coffey also had an RBI single and Abbey Walsh had a couple of stolen bases with a run scored. Basham and Kelsey Farmer also each had triples.
On Saturday, Lee pitched a 13-4 win over the Cumberland Invasion with Watson going 2-for-2, Paige Arthur had a single, walked and a run scored. Whitley McDaniel also walked and scored a run.
Also in pool play, the Pride won 19-1 over the Force with Nicolas, Avery Jackson, Basham and Watson each scored three runs. Farmer had a single, double and triple with Dow knocking down the win in the pitching circle. Also scoring runs were Alyssa Mathias, Walsh, Sydney Jackson, McDaniel.
Against the Marshall She-Cats, the Pride won 5-2. Watson and Basham were both 2-for-2. Scoring runs were Basham, Farmer, and Dow.
The Pride now 8-1 are to play at Terre Haute next weekend.

Pride 10s win Terre Haute Sports JAM
TERRE HAUTE – The Mattoon Pride 10 and Under Softball Team defeated Team Indiana 6-5 in the championship game of the USSSA Sports JAM at Terre Haute on Sunday.
The Pride went 5-1 in the tournament.
Mattoon won the eight-inning contest after Avery Jackson was placed on second in the international-tie-breaker inning and tied the score when Emily Watson sacrificed. Watson then scored on the game-winning hit by Kelsey Farmer.
Kyliegh Basham pitched the win, fanning 13 batters, walking four and allowing seven hits.
Farmer also had two other singles while Avery Jackson also had two. Sydney Jackson, Basham, Ivy Nichols each had singles. Courtesy runners Abbey Walsh and Whitley McDaniel each scored runs.
In the semi-final, Cassi Dow allowed three hits, walked six and struck out 11 in the 6-5 win over the Indiana Magic.
Alyssa Mathias, Avery Jackson, and Dow each had singles while Farmer had two. Scoring runs were Mathias with two while Sydney Jackson, Nichols, Watson and Basham each scored one.
In pool games on Saturday, Basham, Dow and Watson picked up wins in the pitching circle.
Watson pitched a 4-1 win over the Indiana Terror. She only allowed two hits, walked four and struck out eight. Paige Arthur had a walk.
In a 11-1 win over Team Indiana in pool play, Bella Coffey and Abbey Walsh each walked with runs scored. Abrienne Lee singled in the game.
The 10s are now 13-2 and are scheduled to play host at the Roundhouse Complex for the Mattoon Pride Memorial Weekend Classic this weekend.

Pride 10s go 2-1 in weekend tourney

MATTOON -- The Mattoon Pride 10-and-under softball team went 2-1 in the Mattoon Pride Spring Round Robin this past Saturday.
The Pride defeated the Cumberland Invasion 13-1. Cassi Dow earned the win in the pitching circle, allowing no runs, two walks and striking out four. Abrienne Lee came in to close out the game with one run scored, one walk and two strikeouts.
Avery Jackson, Sydney Jackson and Dow each had singles while Kelsey Farmer had a double.
Mattoon just missed the win against the St. Louis Chaos and fell 5-4.
