We are having a MAJOR problem with Graffiti at the Parks. Every day we are spending 1⁄2 day or more cleaning up graffiti.
ABSOLUTELY NO CHALK is allowed in the Parks, the graffiti from sidewalk chalk is leading to markers and paint, leagues talking back and forth via this, who is in love with who, etc. We have taken pictures and we have some names.
If you see them using chalk, stop them and make them clean it up, let them know it’s not allowed. If they don’t stop, call the Police Dept and turn them in. Make rounds thru the bleacher areas during the games, keep an eye out.
Due to graffiti in the bleacher areas and having to clean it up it has stripped some of the paint so the bleachers are going to have to be repainted. We will track this expense in the event they are caught in action, we will prosecute them and seek restitution.
Please advise all kids and parents that this is the final warning and it will not be tolerated,
we will start prosecuting, as this is vandalism.

What to look for in a Travel Team
When looking at a new team, you need to ask three questions.
What is the purpose or goal of this team?
(ex: Win every game, college exposure, or just to play games?)
What is the playing time rule of the team?
Where is the home base of the team?
(How much travel and cost will be involved by playing on this team?)
If you don't get the answer you would like to any one of these questions, then that team is not for you.
Some other things to think about when looking at a summer team:
What age level gets the most college exposure?
16 and under, then 18 and under; no coaches go to 14 and under.
What softball organization gets the most college exposure?
ASA, then NSA
Does the team play the toughest competition it can?
Thumb rule: If you win two-thirds of your games, your season was too easy.
What positions will I be playing?
Look for a team or an organization that you can stay on or with year after year.
Look for a team on which every player is as good as or better than you.
To get better, you must be challenged by players that will make you earn your playing time. Plus the more potential college players you have, the more college coaches will come to look.
Does the team have quality pitchers?
You can not get through a successful season without quality pitchers. To get the most exposure, your team needs to get to the championship of every tournament. You cannot do this without quality pitchers.
If you are a pitcher, the perfect scenario is to pitch no more than two to three times a week.
Do the coaches and managers have a good understanding of college recruitment?
How well do the team and parents get along on and off the field?

Home team wins Babe Ruth 12-U World Series with 7-3 victory
BY BRIAN NIELSEN, Sports Editor
MATTOON -- Yes, Wade Bradley did get scared.
"I woke up this morning and -- I know you shouldn't have negative thoughts -- but I thought 'what if we lose two?' " said the coach of Mattoon's team that needed to win only once Saturday to capture a Babe Ruth 12-and-under softball World Series championship. See More Here
